SELF CARE

I'm sure you have heard about it more than a few times by now, it's pretty buzzy. Everyone is talking about it... but do you really know what it means? What is self-care and why is it sooo important? You might also be wondering, how does this relate to my skin?

Self-care includes anything you do to keep yourself healthy – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Although prioritizing self-care may sound like common sense, yet, it’s often the first thing to go when we find ourselves in challenging situations, whether because of bad health, a financial crisis, job loss, divorce, or, in our current situation, the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more." -SNHU

You may have heard us mention this before, and we will keep reminding you, many skin issues are caused by inflammation which has been triggered by stress. So we hope by providing you some valuable skincare education while also sharing some great self-care tips we will ultimately help you achieve your skincare goals!

So for today, let's just take a moment, grab a journal and write what your current self-care practices are...

-How often do you currently practice self-care? Daily, hardly ever, never.

-What are some of the ways you practice self-care? Remember, self-care can also be as simple as making your bed.

-How do you feel after completing an act of self-care?

- What are some things in your life that you would like to spend more self-care time on?
